History...
Hello! I retired from the City of Tonawanda Police Department (New York) after 26 years of service at the rank of Captain in January of 1999. Myself and son Eric joined my wife Fran in Florence, South Carolina within days of my retirement. Our daughters, Bethany and Laura, relocated from Tonawanda to Charleston, SC several years before I retired. We left the cold and snow of Western New York only to be greeted by sunny warm weather! Our outside thermometer read 1 degree as we left Tonawanda and was greeted in Florence the next day with temperatures in the 70s! Fran is employed in the medical field and has been living in Florence since January of 1998. Within two weeks of my arrival, I obtained employment with Pilkington the automobile glass replacement giant. I started at 8:00 AM and delivered replacement auto glass and related items to Myrtle Beach, twice a day! I would turn up an "oldies" station on the radio and sing all the way! Even though I had a lot of fun and met many great people while working for Pilkington, in March of 2002 I changed my employment to something more in my line of training and experience. I am now the Security Manager for Harbor Freight Tool's distribution center in Dillon, SC. This 1.5 million square foot (34 acres) warehouse serves Harbor Freight Tools' retail stores all over the east coast..This web site was developed to keep in contact with all the friends and neighbors (yes...they can one and the same) we left behind in the Tonawandas. These communities are located between Buffalo and Niagara Falls, New York and offered a wonderful place to raise a family. However after my retirement and with Fran's new employment opportunity, we settled in Florence/Darlington, South Carolina. One thing I can say without hesitation...I am glad not to see anymore snow! The neighbors in Tonawanda often commented how they never saw me during the blustery and cold Buffalo winters! Hey...it was cold out there! The real reason we left Buffalo!
We purchased a home in an area called Beaver Pointe located in Darlington County (about 10 minutes from Darlington Raceway). With the new home came a riding lawn mower and a gas-powered trimmer. With all the sunshine and an automated sprinkler system for 2+ acres of yard, we are putting that equipment to the test weekly! In 2005 we purchased 3.7 acres of land on Edisto Island. This is a barrier island located between Charleston and Hilton Head. We are excited about the location of our future retirement home and that excitement is reflected by the many links I have placed on this web page!
So... pour yourself another cup of coffee, sit back, relax and take a tour of DavidFill.com!
